1. How did you feel about your final monologue? What were you proud of? What was the most challenging aspect? 5 sentences
I felt that my final monologue truly showed the desperation of my character. I was proud of the pauses I added for effect because I felt they added to the tension. The most challenging aspect for me was probably getting into character. It is hard to go from your daily life, happy at home, to someone who is really struggling with theirs. I enjoyed working on this piece a lot and wish that I had worn costume and been in a more appropriate setting, but the weather has not been cooperative. Either way, I would have especially loved to do this in class if it were possible.
2. What was the most difficult part of your journey in this class? How do you feel about your ability to meet that challenge? 3 sentences
The most difficult part of this class for me was definitely memorization of some of the pieces. I feel that if I were able to practice more with my partners and spend more time getting into character, this would have been easier. I feel that I did overcome this issue throughout, and will continue to work on it.
3. What words of advice would you offer to a person signing up for this class? 3 sentences
I would advise anyone taking this class to open their mind and act your best. When else will you be able to act however you want in front of others with no negative consequences? Make sure you do not take this open environment for granted because its not worth skipping out on.
Max,
I am glad you feel good about your final monologue; you absolutely should feel great. You created a lovely character that really required some risks on your end to portray him. I so wish I could have seen him in class as well; we all would have been dabbing our eyes.
Thank you for a lovely semester. You are such a bright person who brings such a sense of ease and joy into the room with you. It was great to see you stretch yourself with Evan and then this final guy. You could have chosen easier paths for yourself, relying on your wit and sense of humor. But you ended up finding characters that stretched beyond that and I am so glad.
I wish you the very best. It is a strange new world out there, but I am glad people like you will be entering it with strength and compassion.
