1. My character is a baseball player who was just called up from the minors to play with the Yankees in New York.
2. He lives and breathes baseball, he spends all of his time training, watching film, and lifting weights.
3. He has a main goal, to be the best baseball player he can be and work harder than anyone else, his relentless training and work ethic intimidates other players because NOBODY works that hard.
4. He just got called up to the major leagues, but with horrible timing, as with the COVID-19 Pandemic, baseball has been postponed. He finally achieved his dream of making it pro, and he can’t play pro ball until it is safe again.
5. He was born in the domincan republic, but his father was arrested for violence and his family was split up. He was adopted at the age of 6 by a family in Connecticut, his adoptive father being a huge baseball fan. My character still goes to physical therapy a couple of times a month, rehabbing a bad knee injury he got while playing high school football. He has two older twin brothers in his adoptive family, they grew up with him playing baseball, and were even seniors when he was a sophomore on their high school baseball team. They are close. He is very close with his adoptive mother, who shows him all the love and care in the world, so he definitely has a soft spot in his personality, he’s not Mr. tough guy. His father is also a trained classical pianist, so his whole family is musically inclined and loves theatre and music. Lastly, he was picked on a decent amount as a kid for being new and different, so now that he is a role model, he sticks up for a kid any chance he gets, as well as acting as an anti-bullying advocate for his hometown and kids nationwide.
This is great! I love the notion of a character being so close to getting what they want and then facing such a specific obstacle. Lovely work.
