Character Obstacle

1. My character is trying to restore his relationship with his mother before being sent to colonize Mars. The obstacle he is facing is that she is insanely religious and views him as a disappoint him. The main character only has a computer to try to restore a severely damaged relationship which can be difficult. 2. If he does not restore his relationship with his mother, then he will be sent to Mars with an immense sense of grief and guilt because he does not know when/if he will see his mother again. His mission of colonizing Mars is at stake because the negative emotions that will stem from leaving loose ends will start to take over his mind and compromise his mission. He is a chronic over thinker and needs his mind on nothing but plants and Mars.
