I have traveled… wait… let me start again. I have traveled to many worlds… more than I could even try to tell you, if anyone is even seeing this that is.
If someone is seeing this, I truly hope you listen closely to what I’m going to tell. To provide some context, I have many things in my journeys across space and time. I have seen magic and monsters and everything in between. Yet in all my travels through the worlds…. I have never seen a world anything like this. A world with more people than I ever thought possible. A world that isn’t held together by magic but by persistence. A world that is billions of years old. A world where instead of gazing at the stars, you joined them in the sky. This world captured my soul in ways no other ever has; and that is why I cannot stay.
At first I thought you were unaware of it, I thought you simply didn’t know, and that once you did, you’d be able to stop it. I… I wish that was the case. This wonderful world that I love…. You know you’re destroying it, right? You’re destroying it, and you need to stop. You don’t understand how unique your world is. You’ve survived through so much. What caused the downfall of my own world is but a footnote in your vast histories. Neither disaster, war or famine has brought an end to your civilization, The only threat is you.
You people act as though you have another world, when in fact you do not. The gift of world walking is one only I possess… so stop acting as though you have another world. This is the only one you have and it’s the only one you will ever have. For such an old civilization, you must grow up. So that the tragedies of my world do not befall yours.
I adore your writing Emily. The phrase "A world that isn’t held together by magic but by persistence." is just amazing. I love the character you brought in for this piece. I am so happy to see you connect her large and wonderful universe with a specific and clear need based on an outside character/characters. I think you mentioned that you have a lot of work created around this cosmic wanderer? I wish we had a whole semester to see her other adventures. I hope you keep writing and I hope Netflix finds you; the world would be a better place with your stories in it!
